FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Can we bring a +1 and / or our kids?
While we love your little ones and +1s, due to venue size restrictions, our wedding is invite / RSVP only. We will only be able to accommodate those listed on your invitation and appreciate your understanding.
What will the weather be like in Key West in April?
Average highs are near ~85 degrees, with average lows around ~75 degrees. While the ceremony will be held indoors, the wedding reception will be held partially outdoors on a boat. The dinner cabin is fully enclosed and air-conditioned (the only boat on the island that is!). We are closer to the equator, so don’t forget to pack plenty of sunscreen!
What is the dress code?
Because it can be warm in Key West, the dress code is dressy casual to cocktail attire. We encourage you to wear something nice that you will feel comfortable in! Women are welcome to wear sundresses and dressy sandals. Men are welcome to wear collared shirts (polos and short sleeve button downs are acceptable) and pants with close-toed shoes (please no jeans or sandals).
What time should I arrive at the wedding?
The wedding ceremony will begin at 3:15 pm at Grace Lutheran Church. We ask that everyone please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the ceremony to ensure there is enough time to be seated.
What time does the wedding end? Is there an after party?
The boat will come back to the dock at 9 pm. At this time, transportation will be provided back to the Lighthouse Key West Hotel. While the wedding will be over, we are planning to go out on Duval street afterwards – you are more than welcome to join us to keep celebrating!
Are the ceremony and reception in the same place?
No, the ceremony will be at Grace Lutheran Church and the reception will be held on a sunset dinner cruise. Transportation will be provided from the ceremony to the reception. Additional transportation will be provided from the reception back to the Lighthouse Key West Hotel once the reception ends.
Is the reception venue outside?
The reception will be held on a sunset dinner cruise. The boat has two main areas: an enclosed, air-conditioned cabin (where we will also have dinner), and an open-air, upper deck. Guests are able to move throughout the upper deck and the air conditioned cabin throughout the reception.
Will I get seasick on the boat during the reception? Will we be on the boat for the entirety of the reception?
The boat will stay in calm waters for the entirety of the reception, with limited risk of seasickness. If you do feel seasick or need to leave the boat during the reception, we can come back to the dock for drop offs under special circumstances.
What kind of food will be served during the reception? What if I have food allergies or dietary restrictions?
There will be a buffet style dinner served at the reception. The food will be Cuban cuisine with options that would accommodate vegetarian and gluten free diets. If you have allergies or special dietary restrictions, please contact us directly and we will ensure you will be accommodated.
What is the parking situation like on Key West? Will there be parking at the Lighthouse Hotel?
There is street and city parking available on a first-come, first-serve basis throughout the island, however, parking is limited due to the popularity of Key West. If you park, be prepared to walk a couple of blocks! Unfortunately, there is no onsite parking at the hotel. While we recommend public transportation or rideshare/taxi to get around Key West, if you choose to rent a car or bring your own, there is street / city parking nearby.
Is parking available at Grace Lutheran Church? What about the dock / Sunset Watersports?
Parking is available at Grace Lutheran Church, however, you will not be able to park overnight. There is parking available near the dock / Sunset Watersports, however, this is street / city parking available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Because of the parking situation at the dock, we are providing transportation from the ceremony to the reception, and from the reception back to the hotel once the wedding ends.
